We’re looking forward to The Gartner Security & Risk Management Summit 2019 this week at National Harbor, MD, for the latest thinking from the influential consulting group on risk, resilience and Integrated Risk Management (IRM), the movement to free infosecurity from tech-centric practices and align cyber with business processes and objectives.
A year ago, Gartner named risk quantification as one of the five critical capabilities for IRM. As Gartner’s lead analyst for IRM, John A. Wheeler, explained in a blog post,“Top IRM technology solutions deliver two success factors – balance and alignment– to customers seeking to add value to the business.”
- Balance in enabling six use cases (digital risk management, vendor risk management, business continuity management, audit management, corporate compliance and oversight, enterprise legal management).
- Alignment with five critical capabilities: risk control and documentation, incident management, risk mitigation planning, key risk indicator monitoring, risk quantification and analytics.
As the only risk analytics platform built on the standard FAIR model for cyber risk quantification and as an advocate of communicating cyber risk in business terms, RiskLens is right in line with the IRM movement — indeed, the platform is integrated with three of the vendors named by Gartner to its IRM Magic Quadrant ( RSA, Galvanize/Rsam and ServiceNow).
Wheeler will give the keynote address on “Why IRM Needs Risk Quantification” at the FAIR Institute’s 2019 FAIR Conference. RiskLens is the technical adviser to the Institute. The FAIR Institute is hosting a breakfast for Gartner Summit attendees, Tuesday, June 18, at 7:30 AM.
