FAIR Training & Certification

FAIR Training by RiskLens Academy

Learn From the Experts

  • Factor Analysis of Information Risk (FAIR) is the leading quantitative model for cybersecurity and operational risk
  • OpenFAIRTM is a standard* established by The Open Group, a global consortium that enables the achievement of business objectives through IT standards
  • RiskLens training courses - both online and in-person - are officially accredited by The Open Group.

The FAIR Analyst Course

Take Your Career to the Next Level

  • The course is a foundational introduction to OpenFAIRTM, a risk methodology that risk analysts can use to accurately model and quantify risk
  • Analysts trained in FAIR can build an effective approach to improved risk analysis and management
  • By employing FAIR, organizations will make better-informed decisions because management will be given accurate, useful information by those with OpenFAIRTM training

FAIR Certification

All analysts successfully completing the sessions qualify for formal CPE credits and will be issued a Certificate of Completion

  • Training hours apply against CPE requirements for various certifications. Onsite training equates to 20 hours of CPE credit, and online training is worth 15 hours of CPE credit
  • At the conclusion of training, analysts will have the opportunity to test for FAIR certification
  • FAIR certification is issued by The Open Group; testing is completed through Pearson VUE, at one of their numerous locations

How FAIR Can Be Leveraged

These are some of the ways in which FAIR can provide value:

  • Accurately assess aggregate IT and cybersecurity loss exposure
  • Identify control weaknesses and concentrations of risk
  • Estimate capital reserves and cyber insurance requirements
  • Optimize security mitigation budgets and project priorities
  • Support oversight, governance and compliance requirements

More Than Innovative Risk Modeling

Key components of the training focus are effective communication, calibration (a method for making better measurements), and better analyses.

  • Standardizing risk terminology in any organization will streamline communication and provide clarity regarding the risk landscape
  • Calibration allows for subject matter experts to make accurate estimates in the absence of data
  • While calibration is helping to bridge the information gaps, those gaps are getting smaller as our analysis framework and tools let organizations know exactly where to find hard data. In many cases, data already exists and FAIR-trained analysts know how to find and leverage this data
