RiskLens, (ISC)2 Team to Offer $500 Discount for Online FAIR Analysis Fundamentals Course

March 5, 2019

Reston, Va., Jan. 3, 2018— RiskLens, the leading provider of cyber risk quantification solutions, today announced it has teamed with (ISC)², a non-profit organization specializing in information security education and certifications, to offer (ISC) 2 members a special $500 discount on the FAIR Analysis Fundamentals course taken online January 1, 2018, through June 30, 2018.

“As demand for FAIR-certified cyber risk professionals continues to increase, we are pleased to offer (ISC) 2 members this special opportunity to get certified in FAIR via our new accredited video-based courses,” said RiskLens CEO Nick Sanna. “By incentivizing online learning and certification in FAIR, RiskLens and (ISC) 2 are helping cybersecurity professionals assess the effectiveness of security initiatives, advance their careers and get a seat at the business table.”

The FAIR model continues to mature and is increasingly deployed in large organizations to help risk professionals quantify and communicate their risk posture in financial terms to board of directors and C-suite decision makers and enable cost-effective decision making regarding the prioritization of risk mitigation initiatives and resource allocation.

Announced last October, online FAIR Analysis Fundamentals course offers a self-paced education that spans all FAIR principles. The in-depth course material provides an introduction to critical thinking about risk; core measuring concepts, such as accuracy versus precision, and how to measure risk based on limited or poor quality data. The course also features instructional videos and access to reference materials on a new online training application called FAIR-U.

By the end of the FAIR Analysis Fundamentals course, participants will be able to:

  • Know and apply consistent FAIR-based terminology
  • Know and apply the FAIR ontology to risk scenarios
  • Use various measurement concepts to select scenarios for analysis and estimate risk factors using probability distributions
  • Understand the use of calibrated estimation in quantitative risk analysis
  • Follow a consistent process to scope risk scenarios for analysis
  • Map various controls to corresponding parts of the FAIR ontology
  • Understand and interpret the results of a FAIR analysis
  • Apply their knowledge to case studies, based on real-life analyses

(ISC) 2 members can log in to their accounts and search Member Benefits or Member Perks pages to obtain more information and sign up.

Participants have the opportunity to test for formal Open FAIR certification with a voucher provided upon completion of the training course. The Open FAIR certification is issued by  The Open Group , the international standards consortium that released the OpenFAIR standard, and testing is completed through  Pearson VUE , at one of their regional testing centers.
